In-Residence at MIMA 2021

30 July – 10 December 2021

From July – December 2021 the Library will be in-residence at Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (MIMA) running monthly Open Library events. We are using this time as a period to learn more about the histories of women’s creative work in the Tees Valley, carry out research in the MIMA Collection and expand the library’s collection through donations and working with artists in the area.

An Open Library events series will share items from our growing collection, invite artists to present work, and celebrate the legacies of women artists in the Tees Valley.

On Friday 30th July we’ll be introducing the residency and the library’s collection with an Open Library talk from founder and artist Holly Argent and MIMA Collection from MIMA Assistant Curator, Helen Welford.

In following events, artists Jade Sweeting and Fiona Larkin will share work-in-progress from projects responding to and collecting women’s histories in the Tees Valley, as well as discussion events with curator Althea Greenan (Women’s Art Library) and Navigator North.

We’d love to see you at MIMA during our residency and invite you to make donations to the Library’s collection of publications, images and other forms of documentation.

Events Programme

On the following dates the Library will be open in MIMA’s foyer between 10am-4pm for you to browse the collection, have a chat with us and donate to the collection.

All events will be ‘drop-in’ and there is no requirement to book ahead.
